Arrow pointer normal cursor gone

Hello,
I was shocked to see today that the normal arrow pointer is gone from Acrobat DC and that I now have the choice of the "hand tool", which is of no use to me or the snapshot tool, which I need to turn on and off again and I need to swtich between snapshot and normal pointer to highlight and/or copy text. The button that I normally use on the undocked menu at the bottom of the screen is also gone. I was in preferences where I only have options to use the hand tool, but I precisely do not want to use the hand but the normal arrow instead. Does anyone know where it has gone and how I can get it back?
Many thanks!

Hi,
Can you confirm the version of your software and the operating system you are using?
Can you include some screenshot to highlight your issue?
Is it something new after an update/upgrade on your system?

Hi,
It is Acrobat Reader DC version 19+
There is nothing wrong wiht my system - there has not been an update, it is simply gone. Therefore, I can also not take a screenshot of an arrow pointer (I'm pretty sure you know what I mean) that is not there. And likewise not of a button that is missing for switching between snapshot mode and normal arrow pointer mode.
In addition, the useless option of customizing buttons on the top toolbar is now also not including the snapshot button anymore because it wants to include things I do not use and no matter how often I unclick them (send by email, spell check), they do not go away and do not make room for things that I do need.

There is a thread that discus how to reset the preferences. This might help.
Please make sure you back up your system, just in case.

It is not my preferences, as mentioned, I have adjusted them correctly. It seems to me that Adobe got rid of the normal pointer cursor and reduced the options to the hand tool and also got rid of the possibility to click on a button on the undocked menu bar to switch from snapshot to pointer.
As a workaround I used the shortcut keys to get the hand-tool after snapshot and to set preferences to use the "hand-tool" to also highlight text.
I now also found the other thread and you're right there is a simple solution when you know what the pointer cursor is called in Acrobat. The "select tool" -- right click in any pdf and select the "select tool". Wow 😉

I also want to have back the normal "arrow" pointing/selecting tool. It works great when sharing screen and making a blue box around some part of a document that I want to highlight. Using text select does not cover a simple vertical row int he same way and is of no use to me.

Some documents do not allow you to copy the text. And only the hand is present. Open a document where you had the functionality and the select tool is present. I don't think you can chnage it.

Right click in the body of the document. Select the "select tool" from the drop down menu. It will either be at the top of the drop down box or in the list of options. I don't know how to get this on the tool bar though. It isn't on the list when right clicking on the tool bar/zoom and select options.

I found it! Hover the mouse over the bottom, middle of the document. A tool display will pop up. You can select the arrow there or move the page controls to the toolbar.
