how can i create bookmarks? i cant find the bookmarks tool on the left where it is supposed to be.

My guess is that you have Acrobat Reader (free) and you're following instructions for Acrobat (paid for). Look similar but very different. A lot of people haven't been told about the two different apps.

You can't create bookmarks with the free Reader, and the Bookmarks panel will not appear for a file that doesn't have them already.
