Broken File Fix

New Here ,

Having trouble with Acrobat Reader on Windows 7.  Apparently, I have a broken file AcroRD32.dll.  Efforts to uninstall Reader fail because this file cannot be accessed.  Windows Repair also did not work.  Attempts to download a new Reader fail because the version on my pc 2019.008.20080 is newer than the one being downloaded from Adobe 2019.008.20071.  Any suggestions on how to proceed?

I would download and run the Acrobat cleaner tool found here: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Then try a reinstall from here: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

That's for your help.  Had one minor issue.  While the Clean worked perfectly, the Install installed a different app than the link suggested.  What was installed was Reader XI instead of Reader DC.  Now for my use, it probably makes little difference.  Just wanted to pass that along.

Thanks again.

If you selected the proper OS and XI was the only option, your OS is old and doesn't support DC. There's only a few of them though so be sure you selected the right one (you can still install DC even though you already installed XI. It will overwrite it).
