I seem to have found a bug with Acrobat Reader DC (latest version, Continuous Release | Version 2019.010.20098). When I open this file (Adobe_Image_Bug.pdf - Google Drive) in Acrobat Reader DC it appears correctly, but when I print it the circle images look extremely wonky—as if they're being repeated infinitely, overlap each other, and are on black backgrounds. This consistently happens, across multiple combinations of computers and printers. When I print the file from other PDF viewers (such as Apple's Preview) I do not see this behavior.
If it's helpful, I'm testing on macOS 10.14.3.
