Can't change READER DC default

Hi Smart People -

Environment:

Win 10

Adobe Acrobat 9.5

Adobe CS5

Adobe READER DC

I recently installed Reader DC (subscription -NOT FREE) and it's set as my default PDF viewer.  I need to change that back to my Adobe Acrobat software but changing the default software for PDFs don't work.

Steps I've taken:

I've tried right clicking on a pdf file -> Properties / Opens With: set to Adobe Acrobat Reader.  I select CHANGE:  asks me if I want to "Keep using this APP: ADOBE ACROBAT"???????

Made sure the default program for PDF was Acrobat - didn't have any impact

Switched Default in - pdf file -> Properties / Opens With: to MICROSOFT EDGE which changed the default software setting.  Then changed it back to ADOBE ACROBAT but it's still showing READER DC.

Changed default program association back to ADOBE ACROBAT from MICROSOFT EDGE.

Both these products have been around for some time now - I can't be the only one with this issue...
