Cannot open PDF file to view. Adobe Reader XI or in newest version.

I continue to get the box "this PDF file is attempting to launch..." Are you sure you want to continue. If I say yes I get the box again, if I saw no, the file disappears. I have been dealing with this for hours. Need to be able to open PDF files. Tried to go back to an older version, same thing is happening. Thank you.

Can you successfully open other PDFs? It might be that the file itself was corrupted.
