Hello Community,

the attached pdf is not possible to open on a Chromebook.

With a local installation of Adobe Reader on a windows laptop its no problem to open.

Have anyone a idea to open this kind of pdf on a Chromebook?

It is an official form from a federal ministry in germany.

Thanks in advance!

Greetings

Marcus

This is a XFA form. Use Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac.

But I dont want believe that its not possible to open a lot of official pdf-formulars from the german authorities only with windows and not with chromebooks.

With everyone's permission, if I may add that it happened to me too,

I solved it once and for all by integrating Acrobat Reader as the standard reader in Windows.

Adobe as the standard program for all PDF variations.

Windows 10

  1. Click on the Windows window (bottom left) and right-click.
  2. Select the “Settings” command with the left mouse button.
  3. Select "Apps and Features", press the left mouse button on apps.
  4. Selecting “Standard Apps“ is the second command from the left, click on it.
  5. Under the “Reset” button, click on “Select standard apps according to file type”.
  6. The menu “Select standard apps according to file type” appears.
  7. Scroll down until you come to .pdf Adobe Acrobat document.
  8. For .pdf file type, select Acrobat Reader.
  9. For .pdfxml file type, select Acrobat Reader.
  10. For .pdx file type, select Acrobat Reader.
  11. It takes a few seconds until it is accepted, but then you can automatically open all PDFs with Acrobat Reader, regardless of which Internet Navigator you are working with

Additional Information:

Set Acrobat Reader or Acrobat your default PDF program on Windows 10

Maybe this information will help you, if not ... just ignore it :-).

Wish everyone a wonderful day

Thanks,

Nikolaos.
