Comments Pane Keeps Opening

New Here ,
Dec 18, 2018 Dec 18, 2018

Hi,

I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Continuous Release Version 2019.010.20064.
I have never had this issue before but starting today, whenever I highlight a piece of text (not necessarily wanting to add a comment), the comments pane on the right hand side will open up. I used to be able to just highlight and not have that pop up and suddenly I can't get it to stop.
Anyone know what the issue is?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Yitsach,

We're sorry for the trouble you had, is it possible to post a screenshot or a video recording of the comment pane on the right-hand side screen pops up? To post a screenshot, please refer to https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-7043#jive_content_id_How_do_I_attach_a_screenshot

Are you on a Mac or Windows machine and what is the version?

Is it happening with all the PDF files or is it specific to one PDF file?

Navigate to Adobe Reader's Preferences from edit>preferences>security(enhanced)>Disable 'protected mode at start-up'>click ok>restart the application and check.

Note: Disabling the protected mode is only for testing purpose, please enable it back.

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hi Anand,

Thank you for getting back to me. I have attached two screenshots below, one of when I have the comments pane closed and one of what it looks like after I select and right click 'Highlight text'.

It appears to be for this document and one other which are recently downloaded however they are other documents downloaded at the same time for which this is not a problem.

I am on Windows 10.
I already have Protected Mode at Start Up turned off as I was irritated by having to select where to save my file every time I wanted to save an edit and disabling Protected Mode was the only way I could find to turn that off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The update did not work for me and its so annoying since i've got a lot of highlighting to do. Everytime you click on the comment tool, the comments list open even if its just to highlight some text witch is very annoying. The Comments List should not open everytime i click on the comment tool. We should have an option to keep it hidden.
