Hi Ewaz,

Are you using Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro. If you have the Reader, that's all you can really do is "read." You can also comment and fill out forms as well.

If you have the Pro version, is the item you want to edit locked? Is it asking for a password?

Hi Gary, the item I want to edit is not locked and I work on Windows 2010, if it helps. I cannot download  Acrobat Reader DC but anytime I try to open my pdf document to  editt (I thought I downloaded  it as I clicked finish button at the end of downloading) it takes me to download Acrobate DC again and then any time I try to do it,  this annoying message appears: "Conflict installing Acrobate DC"   I have lost so much time for this, Please help. Best Regards, Ewa

Hi Ewaz,

Forgive me but I'm having problems fully understanding what's taking place. But let me try to explain what might be happening.

As I stated, you CANNOT edit in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

That being said, any user of Acrobat Reader does appear to have all of the tools to do so in the Acrobat Reader application. When you click on one of those tools (e.g., Edit) up pops a window (mine will be different than yours, I'll explain). FWIW, I personally do not like this UI sneaky offer to sell you an upgrade this way. They are not even grayed out so that you have to constantly click and get the same message popping up again and again not knowing what parts of the free program you can use and what parts you have to pay to use. But that's another story and another issue.

Now, this message is telling me that because I have access to Adobe Acrobat DC, I should go ahead and download that and use it. I'm not sure what the different message might say for those who do not have access to Acrobat Pro DC (which is what I think the situation you are in) but why you have this conflict to download and install is also a different issue. Is it possible you already have it installed from a previous attempt?

I'm a Mac user so I do not fully understand or appreciate the meaning of the PCs warnings. Have you looked through your system to see if you've already downloaded and installed Acrobat Pro?

It's also possible that there was a faulty instillation of some Adobe product at some time and you need to clean your system of Adobe stuff and start from scratch. You will need this to do that:

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation ...helpx.adobe.com › creative-cloud › cc-c...

But again, you cannot edit with Acrobat Reader, that requires Acrobat DC or Acrobat Pro DC and both of those are applications that you need to pay for.

Hopefully some of this is helpful to you.

I am trying to. Please answer these questions or I cannot help you.

1) Is the name of the application Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro

2) Have you ever downloaded ANY version of Acrobat before, if so which version?

3) Where are you downloading it from? What is the URL?

4) If you did download it before, was the instillation interupted?
