Error opening file in Reader but Edge does open it

When I try to open a file in Reader it shows a message that the file is damaged and cannot be repaired. But I try to open that same file in Internet Edge and it opens it correctly.

Important to mention that this does not happen with all files, generally Reader works correctly.

What could be causing this behavior?

The file is damaged and Acrobat Reader can't repair it.
