Fatal error when opening PDFs in Acrobat Reader

Community Beginner ,

I have a PC running Windows 10 version 1803 and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version 19.010.20098. The user of this PC occasionally reports that he receives a "fatal error" when attempting to open any PDF file. Adobe Acrobat Reader does not appear to be open and does not appear on the Processes tab in Task Manager but AcroRd32.exe does appear on the Details tab in Task Manager. If I "End Task" on AcroRd32.exe I am able to successfully open PDFs. This problem occurs perhaps once every two weeks, on average. No other user reports this problem and I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Can anybody suggest what I might do to prevent this from happening again?

Kind regards

David
