Highlighter problem

I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, I need to highlight some of my notes. However, some of the pdf if I want to highlight, it can not highlight properly, which means when i highlight any sentence, it will become some word highlight and some not, just like below:You can see clearly that when I highlight this, and become like this. I don't know why.

Is this in all PDFs, or only this one? Can you check others?

Some of them. Some of them is ok, but sometimes my pdf is sent by some people, and will have this problem.

Hi. I have this same problem with highlighter skipping characters in words in OCR'd documents. Even when the word is properly OCR'd the highlight tool does not properly highlight the entire word, but rather only part of a word and is patchy across a line of text, rather than consistent.

So, for example, here, performed is accurate in the OCR and when you copy and paste it, but when you highlight it, that tool skips. It usually will highlight the entire line / sentence continuously.

This happens on many many documents that I use Acrobat 2017 to OCR

I am using Acrobat 2017 for mac with Mac OSX High Sierra 10.13.6

(FWIW, I also have Acrobat Reader DC installed and if that matters)

I spent a lot of money on Acrobat 2017 and I get this problem. Not good.

It did NOT happen with Acrobat 9, which I used previously.

What is going on here? What changed? Why is it doing this?

The few posts that I can find suggest "Bad OCR" but it is being done with Acrobat 2017 for mac so shouldn't that be good OCR? Is there some setting on Acrobat that is doing this?

If I use an online OCR site, I get proper highlighting.

If I use Acrobat on my PC at work to OCR, I get proper highlighting.

And in fact the actual recognition of the words on this with when OCRd with Acrobat 2017 for mac isn't bad.

It just isn't properly highlighted in the PDF, even when properly recognized.

The characters in the OCR of the document when highlighted don't match what is highlighted on the screen in the PDF.

The thread you reference might address this, but I cannot access that thread or otherwise find it.

I cannot find much else on this.

I really need help. I OCR a lot of old documents and highlight them for work and this is not only a problem, but driving me CRAZY!

Did you ever get a solution? I am having the same problem.

The response that it is Bad OCR in the document is troubling since I am having this same problem with documents OCR'd using Acrobat 2017 on a mac. And, I too spent a lot of money for that program.

What is the problem? What is the solution?
