How to add leading zeros to online form

I am filling out an online form from a state government. It requires the date to be entered in the format MM/DD/YYYY.

May 1, 2020 would therefore be entered 05/01/2020. What appears, however, is 5/1/2020.

I’ve looked online for help. What I could find was to either enter a string of code or instructions to set the format to none.

I see no place on this online form where I set the format to none or enter a string of code.

My only option at this point is to print out the form in the 5/1/2020 format, enter the leading zeros by hand, scan the document and then send it.

If anyone knows an easy fix, it would be appreciated.
