I receive a bank statement which is 'secured' but not for 'open' nor 'print'. I can print this under Windows 10 but not under Windows 8.1. Any suggestions?

In what application are you opening the file?

Adobe reader dc latest version on both machines. 2018.11.20040 if I remember correctly.

The restrictions should be applied exactly the same, then. It's possible that a file is secured but can be printed. It's up to the author of the file to allow printing when applying a security policy.

Yes, but why does that work for windows 10 but not windows 8.1.? It's the same file.

I can't answer that without at least seeing the file in question.

OK. Thanks for your replies but I would rather not forward my bank statement!
I do not have adobe to create a pdf myself with 'secured' attributes but with 'open' and 'print' allowed.
I am no expert but would suggest there is a bug under win 8.1 version that decrypts for display without entering a password, but does not decrypt for printing and sends garbage to the printer.
Thanks again.

Hello again. Just to let you know. I do not reboot unless requested by windows update, but I received a flag from windows defender to complete an update so I rebooted.
Following this, printing from PDFs now works. So it MAY have been a problem with windows defender.
Thanks Again.
