Installation and connection problem -- won't re-install

  1. Acrobat DC installed a new version, automatically as I recall.
  2. I started up the Reader and the sign on screen appeared. It didn't recognize me, using the same credentials used to write this question. It then gave me repeated CAPTCHAs.
  3. Once I got through the CAPTCHAs I got the to the Start Tour Screen.
  4. the Reader froze and then crashed.
  5. All that happened repeatedly.
  6. I decided to uninstall/reinstall. I uninstalled.
  7. Downloaded the Installer, but it won't install, claiming it is installed. And that's where it is now.
  8. I would go through the Registry and delete stuff, but I'd rather just find a different PDF reader.

The only anti-virus system I have is Windows Defender. I'm just a little old home user.

Reboot the machine again and download and install the Adobe Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Assuming you are using Windows machine, please follow the steps before running the installation setup:

  • Once the setup of Adobe Reader is downloaded from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution
  • Locate the setup, right click on it, Right-click on the setup file and click on ‘properties’.
  • Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8/7 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.
  • Once this is done, restart the computer and locate the icon of Adobe Reader, right click on it and choose "Run as administrator".
