Hello Community,

here we have the Problem, that the Internet Explorer 11 opens PDF-Files, downloaded from Internet, always in the browser and not native in the Adobe Acrobat Reader 2015 (Version: 2015.006.30355). Even though the following option is not enabled. This error can also be reproduced in Adobe Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat Reader 2017 (Classic). This behavior has not occurred in Adobe Reader 11.0.22.

Is anyone aware of a solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Js,

We apologize for the delay in response to your query.

What I understand from the information that you have shared above is, every file that has been downloaded or saved in your computer is opening through the Internet Explorer rather than Adobe Reader desktop application?

If this is the case, that means Internet Explorer has been set as default pdf opener.

You may Right Click on any pdf file>Open With>Choose another app>Adobe Reader (Check "Use this app to open .pdf")

Or follow the instruction suggested in- Associate PDF files to always open in Acrobat or Reader on Windows 10

Akanchha

Hello Akanchha,

thank you for your Response! That is exactly what we have already tried. If, however, pdf files are to be opened directly from the Internet or intranet, they are always opened in Internet Explorer and not natively in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Also, to disable the following option does not help!

Here we use Windows 7 and not Windows 10. We are working with Internet Explorer 11.

May be it is a bug in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, because this behavior has not occurred in Adobe Reader 11.0.22.

Regards,

Js

Hi Js,

I apologize for the delay in response to your last message.

There shouldn't be any problem with the Adobe Reader DC, it should work fine.

You may check Display PDF in browser Adobe Acrobat, Acrobat Reader  and disable the Add-On as if its Enabled.

If it still doesn't work then, use the cleaner tool and uninstall the existing version- Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

And download it again- Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions

Hope this resolves the problem.

Regards,

Akanchha
