I have been using a free version of adobe for years to view PDF files and put stamps on plans. I have no idea what version it was.
I just went to check for updates and it installed DC version. Now I cant do anything without paying.
I have urgent work (self employed) that I need to do but now it seems I cant go back.
I have tried uninstalling it and installing others but they all seems to go back to DC or something else I need to pay for.
PLEASE HELP as this is going to make me lose clients by not being able to deliver cause of some update I knew I shouldnt have done.....

Hi Brain,
I assume you may have installed Acrobat Pro DC and that is a paid version.
You still can use Reader DC and is a free application. And you can use above-mentioned features, you may check this link: Share, comment, and review in Adobe Reader DC
Use this link to download and install Reader: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions
Let us know if that helps.

Hi Tariq,
I have downloaded that version.
Can you tell me what part I can do that as when I go to the following this is what happens.
* Stamp - doesn't recognise PDF file
* Send for signature - asks me to upgrade
* Fill & Sign - doesn't recognise PDF file
* Send for comments - asks me to upgrade
The two stamps I have to use to stamp on plans - one is a PNG file and the other one is a Adobe Acrobat Document but that isn't being recognised but the PNG on is.

* Stamp - doesn't recognize PDF file
About stamps, you may visit this link: Add a stamp to a PDF in Adobe Acrobat DC
* Send for signature - asks me to upgrade
That is paid service.
* Fill & Sign - doesn't recognise PDF file
Most likely the file is protected. To check if you allowed to use that on the file. Open file. Click File menu>Properties>Security tab. Check if you are allowed to make changes and sign the document.
* Send for comments - asks me to upgrade
That can be done using Acrobat not Reader.
Let me know if that helps.

Hi Tariq,
I can get the PNG file on but can not get the PDF.
It isnt protected as I am allowed to make changes.
Can I install the old version as this isnt really working for me and really causing massive problems. It is complicated and not straight forward and not easy like what I was using before.

Hi briant93810317,
Apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Actually while choosing image file to create stamp, Reader is searching for files unsupported file i.e. except *.pdf files, which is an issue, you. This issue will get solved in the next release of Adobe Reader.
However there is a workaround for the time being.
If you are using Mac system you can see my reply on thread below-
Re: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC "Select Image for Custom Stamp..." is blank
If you are using Windows system, kindly change the file type to "Acrobat PDF Files(*.pdf)" while choosing an image to create Stamp.
I hope it helps. Please let us know if you need more info.

Arvind

Hi Arvind,
I am using windows. How do I change the file type?
The type reads as "Adobe Acrobat Document (.pdf)" at the moment.

We can probably help you put things back, you just have to tell us what you had before. I imagine you don't know but perhaps we can help you find out. I strongly suspect it was something someone paid for. Please tell us everything you remember about what you clicked, or chose, or menus you used, to do these jobs.

Hi,
I thought it was adobe reader but I really dont know what version but saying that it was only approx 3 year ago that I got it on. It definitely wasnt paid for and was free.
I would open a PDF document and then go to sign on the right hand top side. I would then go to place signature, use image, and then select either the PNG or PDF file to add to the plans.
Either option was completely fine to use and it was the same way for both file types. I also used an excel sheet that I made myself and would say it as a PDF and then stamp on the method above with no issues at all.
Ideally I would love to go back to that program as it seems a lot easier then this one.

Hi briant93810317,
I am taking about the first issue you have mentioned-
* Stamp - doesn't recognize PDF file
Please take a note that you can use only PDF files as image for creating custom stamps in Adobe Reader, however Acrobat Pro DC(paid version) supports other type of files as well.
If you are creating custom stamps so at the time of choosing an image file for the stamp you can change the file type "Acrobat PDF Files(*.pdf)" at the lower right corner.

Arvind

I tried that and the only options I have when saving is PDF File (.pdf) or All files. No other options comes up like PNG etc.
I just played around again and I managed to get the PDF stamp on by using the stamp.
I then has to go to the fill & sign in order to get the PNG file and put it on the plans.
Is this really the best option as it will take 5 times longer for me to stamp plans if this is the best way.
It isnt really good as as a business tool is this is what I have to do from what I was able to previously.

Or if someone could tell me what version I was using that would be awesome as well!

Adobe never had software to save a PDF as PNG for free. So let's see what you might have had. Or may even still have. Please, in Windows Explorer, go to C:\program files (X86)\Adobe. Please let us know all the folders you see in that Adobe folder.

I didnt say I saved a PDF as a PNG file.
I use a PDF and PNG File to stamp another PDF file.
I did the above and only the following was there.
I have attached a copy of the stamping I do to see if that makes it clearer. So the plans are in PDF. The small square green image is PNG. The rectangle image is PDF.
I put the two small stamps on the plans and then save a PDF.
