I received a file though email for 92 pages and it was 3 megs. and I could do a word search. I have a scanner and when I click on searchable and scan I get 178 megs with 78 pages. why?

Hi Lostsoul65,

With which Adobe application you are working on? Adobe Reader or Acrobat DC?

The file that you have referred above did you open it directly from email or saved on your computer locally?

You choose the setting "searchable image"? This means that it is stored as text characters as well as images.

Searchable image (exact) is also an image and text, but a higher quality image. Almost certainly bigger.

Save As has an enormous effect after major changes to a file. Obviously it will have no effect if you have previously done a save as.

Save - always makes file bigger.

Save As - reclaims unused space, removes deleted objects.

Regards,

Akanchha
