Ever since the latest update of Reader DC of yesterday, the program will open and display documents I've selected -
HOWEVER they only stay open about 10 seconds, then the program vanishes on its' own!
I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling the entire program from scratch.
I've used the Adobe "cleaner" to remove all traces, then did another fresh install - still does it.
The program was working flawlessly before the update yesterday.
I've even tried to "run as administrator". Same result.
There's a bug, obviously.
Any help??

Hi moparedtn,

Sorry for the issue that you are facing while using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

I would request you to kindly share the Crash dumps when Reader Crashes for you.

Here is how you can collect the crash dump :

When Reader Crashes (If you get this error message "Adobe Reader has stopped working") , Can you please share with us the Crash Logs .

For Getting the Crash Logs:

a.      When Acrobat Reader Crashes , Open Windows Task Manager

b.      -> Got To Processes, There you can see a process "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" / AcroRd32.exe

c.      Right Click on this process and click "Create Dump File"

d.      Dump file will be created in the Temp folder of user (as specified on the dialog you get after creating dump files).

e.      Save this DMP file on any Cloud Storage and Share the link for that with us on mail at ajain@adobe.com

We will try to analyze your issue on priority once you share this information with us.

Thanks,

Ayush Jain

Where does that update come from? Sorry thats really ...

Nobody in IT would be that crazy, and update an Adobe product without testing it.

So thanks for your automatic update, which works flawlessly. Do we have to block the Adobe servers on our firewall in future, so that won't happen again or what? Or how can I block that?

I can’t generate the DMP file you requested because I had uninstalled the reader -
and now that I try to reinstall it, the installation fails and tells me it’s already installed!
I even used the Adobe utility to “clean” the previous installation even more after the uninstall,

to no avail.
So now I’m in limbo with no version of the reader and no means to download and install one.

I'd really just like to have my "old" version back, the one that actually worked beautifully.

Reminder: I’m using Windows 10 (64 bit).

Any help?

Again, how can I disable this update? Your new update is still full of bugs. I don't want to be your test person! we have 700 clients here (thanks for the little extra work)...

I already made a registry key under HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\Legacy\Reader\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1031-7B44-AC0F074E4100}\Mode=0 and disabled the update service with gpo. Still the service can start somehow and always installs the new version.

Greetings swissdmr
