Opening the file I get the well klnown "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."
Well, turns out we are the vendor who's software created files like this for many years. And we are at a loss to understand what Acrobat Reader DC ist complaining about. Older versions - such as Adobe Reader XI - found no fault with tehse documents.
So please give us a hint what you think is incorrect about the PDF format here. You can download a sample doc here: https://download.luratech.com/tmp/Example%20for%20Reader5%20with%20ICC.pdf

Initial analysis shows that if the SMask is removed from the final image, then the problem goes away. I suspect that conformance checking for the JBIG2Decode filter has been enhanced, probably as a security fix. JBIG2 has been used as an attack vector.

Thanks for the hint, I already suspected a relation to the mask. In the previous version of Adobe Reader DC (released on May 14 2018, 18.011.20040) there is no error message. Unfortunately I could not find any useful release notes to identify the cause more precisely or at least know the changes made.
Since other pdf readers doesn't report any issues with the linked document, it would be nice to know what exactly disturbs Acrobat Reader from showing full content. I am not sure whether the "PDF Language and Specifications" forum is the right one in this case. Do you know if there is a log somewhere giving more detailed error information?
