No digital id found by secured document

New Here ,
Mar 09, 2019 Mar 09, 2019

In 2017 i received some secured documents with an id and password. I could open them, after installing a corresponding digital ID in my reader. The ID only contained an email adress and password, which a had sent previously to the author to personalise the documents.

This worked fine and everytime a could open the documents by filling the password.

Now i have a new laptop with windows 10 and Reader DS and i made a new digital id in DS, with the same info so, that i could open the documents again. But alas....

I receive this messages everytime i want to open the documents. (transalted from dutch)

"This document is coded with a digital ID, but there isn't any available in Acrobat for decoding"

What am i missing?

If you lose a certificate it is gone forever and so is the access it once gave. Backups are important.

If something is secured with a digital certificate you can't make another one like it, you have to use the same one.

Ok, thanks.  I have made an export once to a fdf file also, and tried to import that one. It failed. I need the pfx file i presume.?

what if that file isnt availabele anymore?

What correct procedure do i need to make the docs available again?
