When I had Outlook I was able to open a pdf attachment and the side bar would also open allowing me to fill in forms etc.  I no longer have Outlook and am using Telstra webmail.  The page opens but no side bar.  In outlook the pdf file was in red. Now the pdf file is in grey but not sure what this means.  I really need help please as I used this a lot and want to get it back!

Many thanks

Iris Kitchen

Save the attachment to the local disc and open the file in Acrobat Reader.

Hello Bernd.  I tried this but it didn't work.  If I click on the

attachment to save then it just saves the logo,  not the content of the

attachment.  I then tried saving it as a web page and that didn't work

either.  Any other suggestions please?

Many thanks

Good morning. Telstra is my internet server but they can't help me as

they say it's a software issue.  I would really appreciate it if you can

come up with another suggestion please

Many thanks

Filling PDF forms in webmail is impossible for most people. Save it to your desktop, then fill it in Reader.

I found this from Telstra Mail support. Others have had the same issue and have reported that the solution is the same as the advice you have gotten here on the Adobe forums in this thread.

  • Save the PDF. Then open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Solved: pdf files - Telstra Crowdsupport - 734246

Or you could ask on the Telstra forums.

Yes I did try this method but I can't copy it for some strange reason.

I can copy any other attachment except those PDF ones that come through

Telstra.  I can open the document but the side bar is missing. Any

suggestions other than that which I have already tried would be most

welcome

Many thanks!

Irisk, what do you mean by "sidebar"? I can think of several things. Where is it located, and what do you expect to see?

Also, is your question answered?

Good morning!  The side bar I am referring to is where I can click to

fill and sign, edit etc.  It's the fill and sign I really need which I

had with Outlook but not with Telstra.

Any help you can give will be very much appreciated!

Many thanks

Hi Iris,

Just to confirm, is there a small triangle on the right side about half way down? If there is, click it to expand the Right Hand Panel.

A second thing to try is click Tools in the tabs, then start to type "Fill and Sign". Click Open when the tool appears.

Hello.  No there is no little triangle when I open the pdf page.  I went

on to some old downloaded pdf's and yes, the little arrow is there and

yes, it expands the side bar if needed.  I'm attaching a screen shot of

the document when it is open, which looks totally different to any of

the ones sent when using Outlook. The logo of the pdf is also different,

it being grey rather than the white with red markings.

When I tried your second suggestion I went to tools and yes I can open

fill and sign but it won't accept the PDF I am trying to work on, saying

that it was not properly coded!

Now I don't know where to go next - nothing seems to be working  Still

hopeful though that this can be resolved!!

Many thanks

IKris

To show a picture, Iris, you can click the Insert Image button in the message window or you can copy and paste. The forum has been flakey with images recently—I succeeded yesterday, but failed the previous nine times. It has been reported and is being investigated. If you email an attachment, it gets deleted.

Can you use Fill and Sign in other documents, then? Is it only this one?

Go to File > Properties. What do you see in the Description tab? What software was used to create the PDF? In the Security tab, does it say if there is any security set?

See if you can also post a photo of the message that the PDF was not properly coded.
