PDF cannot open in Adobe DC but, can in Chrome and Edge.

I have a windows 10 Computer (Drive format NTFS) with the free version of Adobe Reader installed.  I have a USB Flash Drive (Drive format FAT) When I try to open the PDF on the flash drive I get the error.

Adobe Reader could not open … because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn’t correctly decoded)."

If I open the PDF on the USB drive using Chrome or Edge the file opens.  Oddly I gave the USB flash drive to two friends and they could open the USB PDF file.  If I copy the PDF to the local C: Drive of my computer from the USB Flash drive I can open the PDF.

It is not clear why I can't open the file from the USB drive using my verions of Adobe DC (Reader/Free)? I uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled to make sure I have the current version.

Hi,

That error is quite often shown when Adobe Reader does not have the correct rights to access the file to open, no idea if this is the problem but thought it was worth mentioning.
