.pdf needs new font package

Windows 10, Dell desktop PC, Acrobat Reader, extension of file that won't open is .pdf. For several years now, we have been using some information gathering forms we created in Word and always send via email in PDF form. The receiver usually prints them out, fills them out in ball point pen, scans them and emails them back. Today, for the first time, when we attempted to open the attachment with the filled out / scanned documents, we received the Acrobat message, 'A font package is required to correctly display this page...' and the document would not open. We clicked the link and downloaded the font package. After that downloaded, an Acrobat window popped up saying I needed another download that will require the serial number of my software. This is all new, we've been using Acrobat Reader for years and have never seen anything like this before. In fact, Acrobat Reader has been the most trouble-free software in our entire system. Perhaps it's something I've done. All suggestions, ideas, comments any wish to offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.

You are dealing with PDF files made by a huge variety of different software. I’ve often seen the “font pavkage” message. It’s simply true. Some scanning software ( I think it’s Epson’s) uses Japanese fonts. However, simply doing what the message says correctly should be the end of it. So Please tell us the second message in detail. Nothing should be asking for the serial again.

Thank You for considering and responding to my post. I started through the process again by clicking on the attachment icon in my email, and proceded to this

Acrobat Reader 005 Setup.jpg

After finishing the download and installing this font pack, it didn't say anything about going on to a second download as it did last time so I tried to display the document attached in my email by right clicking and selecting Open. This time the document opened just like normal. Apparently the problem was me. I must not have done something properly the first time. I greatly appreciate your patience. K.
