Problem mit Acrobat Reader: "Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten..."

New Here ,
May 06, 2025 May 06, 2025

Hallo, seit zwei, drei Jahren funktioniert mein Acrobat Reader bestens. Was ist da los? Wie kann ich den Reader in vollem Umfang wieder nutzen?

Viele Grüße

Thomas P.

Mein Browser ist Edge Version 136.0.3240.50 (Offizielles Build) (64-Bit)

Betriebssystem: Windows 11 Pro

Hello!

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

Could you please share more details about the issue? Do you get the error message with all the PDF files while merging, or is it specific to one PDF? We verified your Adobe ID (email) and see that you have an active subscription to Adobe Acrobat PDF Pack. Try merging the files through Acrobat Online web services and see if you still get the same error message. Try merging the files with a different browser.

If you are using the freeware Acrobat Reader desktop app, then please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.20474 (Win) | 25.001.20476 (Mac), Apr 28, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Thank you, Anand Sri, for your support.

I get the error message with all files. As you said, I merged files through Acrobat Online

and it has worked correct and fine. After I tried the Acrobat Reader desktop app again and it didn't work. So it seems to be a problem with that app - but only since three days. What do you think it could be?

Best regards,

Thomas P.

Hello Thomas!

Thank you for providing additional details. Please attempt to repair the Acrobat Reader installation files by going to Menu > Help > Repair Installation. After the repair, reboot your machine and then try merging the file again using the desktop app.

If you still get the error message, please use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to remove the installed Acrobat Reader, restart the machine, and reinstall Acrobat Reader

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hello Anand Sri, I did as you have recommended - without any success: Still the same error message.

Thank you,

Thomas

Hi @ToPi_2707 ,

We are working on this issue - As you have already identified, this is only an issue when accessing from Reader desktop and not when directly accessing Acrobat web. While we are working on a fix, please continue to directly access Combine files tools in Acrobat web using the link - https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/acrobat/combine-pdf - as a workaround.

Thanks,

Praval

Thank you Praval, I'll work with the Acrobat web access until you will have finished your work. The suggestions by Anand Sri haven't been successfull.

Best regards,

Thomas
