after four years of the increasingly confusing but supposedly sleek transition to acrobat reader for a simple merge of free services with subscription services as I originally understood I, I find myself still wondering why this ever happened. the last time I looked at acrobat the contortions just to figure out pricing boggled the mind. both apps reside in my reader application file. im afraid to touch anything as everyone old school still uses reader, but acrobat reader seems crazy complicated for no reason to me. could I just get a simple reason etre` for acrobat reader as a free user. thank you so much

Reader is free, been free for twenty years, does what it always did. What has changed is it has adverts for Adobe's commercial products and services, which it is their mission to sell to you. If Reader does what you want, ignore the adverts.
