Read out loud not working?

I have previously used read out loud feature on my Windows 10 system, however after not using it for a while it is not functioning. When choosing activate read out loud, then choosing read page only or read to end of document, I don't hear anything. I've checked my system for the speech and voice audio engine; it is working properly. Can't figure why read out isn't audible? Please help?
