Help is desperately needed! I cannot install Reader DC on my Windows 7. I downloaded and successfully ran the Acrobat Cleaner Tool. Then, when I downloaded Reader DC and ran install, the error message "newer version is already installed" is displayed; and there is no visible trace of Reader DC on my machine. How can this be fixed? What steps can I take?
Hi Michaelf and Fredg,
I am sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. please reboot the machine once and install the C runtime file in Windows 7 operating system, refer to the following URL for obtaining the Windows update https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/2999226/update-for-universal-c-runtime-in-windows

I also have had this problem for the past two weeks after Uninstalling Reader because of "missing or corrupted modules." In addition to running the Reader Cleaner Tool, restarting the computer, running Windows Disk Clean, restarting the computer, running Windows Defrag, restarting the computer AND using a different Browser (all the above have been mentioned in other forums) we still get the same messages:
- Newer Version Already Installed; click Finish
- Reader DC did not complete its installation! click Retry
- Chrome pdf Reader seems to be taking over the system and converting all Acrobat logo's with the Chrome logo. Chrome Reader has a horrible interface - our users are complaining they can't figure Chrome out.
Still nothing works. There is no sign of any adobe or acrobat reader on the system; also a Windows 7.
Still trying to reload the "Free" download Acrobat Reader.
Have also tried to install older editions of Reader with the same results.
