Hi there,

Adobe reader is crashing shortly after opening any PDF. I can open Reader without loading a PDF. Each time I get the following in Event Viewer:

Faulting application name: AcroRd32.exe, version: 18.11.20040.19174, time stamp: 0x5af4c57c

Faulting module name: AGM.dll, version: 4.30.75.1, time stamp: 0x5af4c62b

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x00065bf2

Faulting process ID: 0x2034

Faulting application start time: 0x01d3fd8369f3acaa

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroRd32.exe

Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AGM.dll

Report ID: 3091ea32-9773-4398-9504-807425848240

Faulting package full name:

Faulting package-relative application ID:

I've tried virtually every suggested fix I've come across along with a few others:

Reinstall Reader

Fully reinstall by using a cleanup utility after uninstall

Accepted EULA by running EULA.exe

Created/deleted various folders within the Reader installation folder and appdata for the user

Tried as a different user (same issue)

Disabled protected mode (along with a load of other settings in case these affected anything)

Reinstall graphics card drivers

Ensured Windows is up to date

PC has been rebooted numerous times during this

Tried various PDF's, from something with little to no data to CAD drawings, all have the same issue

Foxit reader is able to load these PDF's without issue.

A number of these fixes fixed the issue briefly, before it started happening again.

Any suggestions/fixes would be great. I'm running out of ideas.

Hello LewisAno,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as per the description above, Adobe Reader DC 2018.011.20040 is crashing while opening any PDF, Is that correct?

As mentioned above, you have tried all the possible steps, but the issue still persists. Please try running Adobe Reader as "Run as an admin" in Safe Mode once and see if the issue is reproducible.

Try on a different machine and check. What is the version of the Windows operating system installed?

Let us know how it goes and share your findings.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Hi Anand,

Unfortunately I have the same issue under run as admin in safe mode. Other users on different machines are able to load these PDF's fine.

The machine is running Windows 10 Professional.

Thanks,

Lewis

Hello Lewis,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, is Adobe Reader is crashing while opening few specific files or with all the files?

Is it possible to share the sample PDF file with us so that we can test it at our end? To share the file, please use Adobe Send feature, upload the file, share the link to files via private message only, How Do I Send Private Message

Also, what is the dot version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify, please refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Looking forward to your response.
