Reader DC and Terminal Server 2012 R2 Lockdown

New Here ,
Nov 01, 2017 Nov 01, 2017

Hi everyone.

Hoping someone has been here before in trying to lock down a group of users with Acrobat Reader DC on Windows Server 2012 R2 in RDS mode.  Basically they should have the ability to view a series of PDF's (scroll up or down, zoom in/out and print), that's about all they need and the other features should be unavailable to them.

Other aspects of file and folder control for Windows, Internet etc. are locked down in group policy but Acrobat Reader appears to work against this.  However, some of the Acrobat menu options are still working despite attempts to prevent or block them.  One example, click on File, Save As, a dialogue box opens up and allows the user to navigate the various folders where these documents are stored.  Only after they click on say Desktop or Downloads on the left side of the menu is it locked down and prevented from navigating any further.  It would seem as if Acrobat is circumventing the Windows Security or at least allowing a loophole initially in the beginning.

Is there a way to make Acrobat Reader DC a viewer and printer only option?  Either though a Windows Server group policy or through another method?

Suggestions?

Thanks a bunch
