Reader DC shuts down (seems a common problem)

Have uninstalled following instructions given in the many other DC shutdown threads.

Have reinstalled.

Have accepted the EULA agreement.

Have tried turning off Protected Mode.

Same result, every PDF on my computer. Click to open, whether from the file explorer list or from the Reader DC browse option, and Reader DC shuts down with no warning or error message.

I see there are dozens of other threads like this one with no answers, aside from the standard "uninstall and then reinstall", "check for updates" or "must be something on your computer" that Adobe seems to post as an answer for all the threads.

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Version 2018.011.20040

Version File Version 18.011.20040.19174

I'm running Windows 10 version 1803

I'm really hoping someone can offer something better than uninstall/reinstall or update.

Thanks

Hi Kingbwargh,

As you have already tried uninstalling, checking for updates, turning off protected mode.

Try closing all Adobe processes from Task Manager.

Try resetting preferences How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

if it still doesn't work use the acrobat cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

then try to reinstall it.

Regards,

Divya
