Reader DC stopped working on printing or saving from SAP

New Here ,
Jan 13, 2017 Jan 13, 2017

Interesting problem....prior to 15.023.20053 update, from within SAP we would do a Print Preview, redirect the output to PDF!, and it would open Reader DC and allow us to save and/or print.  Since the update, choosing either save or print causes Reader to error out with "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has stopped working" and subtext "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

Uninstalled the software and reinstalled/repatched to 15.023.20053, same error.  Uninstalled the software and reinstalled an older version (in this case, 15.009.20069) and everything worked again as normal.  SAP tells us that it's "obviously an Adobe problem" and won't even look at the issue.

I'm faced with a mandate to keep Adobe patched to the most recent release, and a recent release that won't do what we need.  Is this a known issue that will be resolved in the next patch?  Any suggestions (besides using the old version?)

So does this version of Reader run for you at all and open files, ignoring SAP?

After the January 2017 DC Reader update to 15.023.20053 via Windows 10 update, I received the same error messages when I tried to open the reader, this crashed on opening and I couldn't print any pdf files. After much frustration, I realized that the "problem" was a compatibility issue. In the reader "Properties" window, I selected the "Compatibility" tab. There I saw  that "Run this program in compatibility mode for" was by default checked for "Windows 7" (my former OS), as there was no option in the drop-down menu for my current OS "Windows 10". I unchecked the "Windows 7" option and left this box unchecked. After saving, my problem was resolved and I can now open the reader successfully and print files with no error messages. Hope this works for you as well.

Hi all,

Adobe is aware of the browser slowness issue and actively working on releasing a hotfix to address this issue.

Please send an email to asmittal@adobe.com with your current product (Acrobat or Reader?) and exact version in case you'd like to try out a beta build containing this fix.

Thanks,

-ashu

Tell Adobe !! We can just sit here and agree there is a problem, it does nothing to fix it.
