Reader Update issue

I went to open a pdf, and Adobe wants me to accept new licensing terms. I looked on my desktop, and the icon looks different. I definitely didn't change anything -at least not on purpose. I see here in these forums that the program automatically updates itself (yikes!!) but did it recently make such a large change that I have to accept new terms and conditions? The icon now on my desktop is Adobe Reader DC. I think I had Adobe Reader with a number before, but I'm not totally sure. It's just one of those things that's supposed to WORK, you know! I don't really like accepting new terms without reading, but YUCK - who wants to read that stuff. Is there some way to revert back to what I had before?

Hi Heather11731611,

We recommend that you have the most updated and latest version of the application.

Since with every new update, the security fixes are done and is highly recommended for your system security as well.

Also, i am not sure the previous version of the application you were using, so you may refer to the link below and download the previous version that we have available other than latest one:

Adobe - Adobe Reader : For Windows : Adobe Reader 11.0.08 security update - All languages

Let me know if you need any other help with the application.

Thanks,

Supriya

So did an update get pushed that would require me to accept terms and conditions all over again? I want to make sure I didn't get some weird virus. It seems very unusual to have to do that. And very strange that the icon to open the program looks different too!

Heather11731611,

Please confirm the version you see when you open your Reader application that you are currently using.

Also, help us with a screenshot of how the program icon appears.

You may use the link below to attach the screenshot:

Here's the icon.

Here's what I get when I try to open it (even though Reader has been on my machine forever):
