Save vs Save As

Guest

Why is there no difference between SAVE and SAVE AS in this program? Every other program assumes SAVE to mean to overwrite the current file in its current location, but for some reason, this program forces you to identify the directory, the file name, and to verify the overwrite?

It seems that this needs to be fixed. It's in every version and it slows down the save function if all I'm trying to do is overwrite a file. This is especially true in the latest version of Adobe where the entire file path is not displayed.

If this is by some weird intentional design, then give us the option to override it in the PREFERENCES.

I have reported this to Adobe multiple times through multiple venues. I thought I would try the forums.

These forums are not Adobe Product Design. The vast majority of the members here are end users themselves volunteering their personal time to assist other users. So basically we have no more say than you do.

~graffiti I deleted the second post. Thank you for your comment. I'm aware that enhancements are done as they want them to be. But thank you.

gener7 Yes I'm aware that this is a users forum with some staff moderation. I was responding to what John T Smith had written. One of the links that he sent for "help" was actually back to the very forum that I had written this on in the first place, which was confusing. It seems that Adobe has no interest in interaction with end users, but that's off topic.

Bernd Alheit gave the correct answer. Once I found that under Security and disabled it, the Save function works as one would expect. Thank you all for your input. WAY too much time involved just trying to figure this out, but many thanks.

BTW, I'm not exactly sure why you sent the link to the identical location where I posted this in the first place. I actually didn't notice it until after I posted the question the second time. So it would have been helpful to have the correct link. I had already posted this, obviously. I was trying to get an answer to a real problem, and giving feedback through the Bug/Feature Request form hasn't worked in months.

You posted in the feedback forum? We didn't know that. It doesn't even show up in your activity (or did someone move your post from there to here?)

It doesn't work like you may expect. Adobe staff will see it and if they feel like something needs to be done (what they consider an actual bug) they will fix it but there's no guarantee when that will happen. There are plenty of bugs to go around).

Allegedly it's for security reasons. Something to do with sandboxes. This is an alarming development and should be challenged and resolved, I agree it's unacceptable. A line needs to be drawn: the security team can't just keep resolving perceived security threats by taking away functionality, there will be nothing left.
