Search not working

New Here ,
Nov 07, 2016 Nov 07, 2016

Using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. In all pdf documents when opening the find tab, as soon as you start the search I get an error that Adobe has stopped working and it immediately closes. I am using a PC with Windows 10. In some cases it will find all of the word I typed, but as soon as I click next it then crashes. I have tried multiple files and re-downloaded some to make sure it was not a corrupted file. I have updated to the latest version available and tried every search option, like right clicking to find, doing an advanced search, and ctrl-f to search.

Thanks.

Hi Brooket23497080,

Are you logged in as Administrator or Standard user?

As mentioned, that you have already installed the latest update and that didn't make any difference. could you please check whether you have the latest patch installed or not?

Release notes | Adobe Acrobat DC, Acrobat Reader DC | Update, November 03, 2016

Solution-1

Please try resetting the preferences of Acrobat Reader-

Note: This solution removes custom settings for Collaboration, JavaScripts, Security, Stamps, Color Management, Auto Fill, Web Capture, and Updater.

  • Quit Acrobat Reader
  • (Windows 7 or higher ) C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\[version]

           Or %appdata%\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\[version]

  • Move the Preferences folder to another location (for example, C:\Temp).
  • Restart Acrobat Reader and check again.

If that doesn't work

Solution-2

Let us know if that doesn't help.

Regards,

Akanchha
