Slow when changing Printer

Hi - a few users have newer windows 10 computers, 8GB of RAM and seem fast overall. However, when attempting to change the printer inside of Adobe Acrobat reader, there is a 10 second lag delay, sometimes longer.

Is there a fix for this? I updated the OS and drivers. I also re-installed the printers.

Hi @Nick27263509uh8v,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader.

Since you have tried most of the troubleshooting steps, I suggest you reset the Acrobat Preferences. You may click the given link to learn how to: How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to defaul

If this does not help, you may want to try the same workflow on a new user account with Admin rights.

Hope this helps.

-Souvik.

Hey, @Nick27263509uh8v, did you ever get a resolution to your problem?

I may be having a related problem in that just asking Acrobat to open the print dialog box takes 10+ seconds, then it takes another 20+ seconds to finish printing a 2-4 page document that is only moderately complex.

This doesn't happen all the time. I have HP OfficeJet Pros in my work office and my home office and some days I can print as fast as expected, other days it takes forever, even for the exact same document. In fact, Acrobat goes into "application not responding" mode after hitting CTRL-P to open the print dialog box, and during the acutal printing. Eventually it always prints, but the inconsistency and delay is difficult to deal with.

Rebooting, reinstalling Acrobat, reinstalling the printer drivers, keeping OS updated, doesn't change this random and too often result.

Hi @wardprobrady There could be multiple scenarios triggering the delay on the printer's end, thus resulting in Acrobat going into a not-responding state.

The team is aware of the issue and is working to fix the grey areas in progressive updates.

Thank you for sharing the information. I will forward this to the dev team to further look into the areas for investigation.

Thanks, S. S., for the reply.

I also want to add that I do not experience these delays and "application not responding" state with other applications.

Thanks again @wardprobrady, for the additional info.

This would help isolate the core reasons for the issue.
