Student can't open links in PDFs

Hi there,

I teach an online course and I have a student that can open the PDFs, but when she clicks on any web links in the text, they will not open.

I created the documents in MS Word (I'm on a new Mac) and then clicked Print>PDF>Save As PDF>Security Options, etc. Then I put in a secure password on the documents, and a different password on the copying. (So students can't easily copy the text.)

Because she was having trouble I gave her the password so she can copy and paste the links, and she said when she does, they come up with so much gobbledegook in the link it's not worth the bother.

Other students can open the links, and I can too.

What might be going on for this student? She's really angry and I want to fix it.

Jen

Have you seen the student work? Can you confirm that Actobat Reader was the app in use? There are many other apps.
