Thumbnail generation in home screen abysmally slow

If recent or starred files are displayed, acrobat generates thumbnails for these every time you relaunch it. Takes maybe 10 seconds to generate 1 thumnail. If there are several files - acrobat just freezes. Makes using the home screen completely impossible.

Hi Sergei

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that. As described, thumbnail generation in home screen abysmally slo.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Acrobat Reader DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 21.07.20099 installed. Go to help > Check for updates nad reboot the computer once.

Also try to repiar the installation from the help menu and reboot the computer once.

You may also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...

Please check out the steps shared in the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-windows.html

It was the latest version. I reinstalled it trying to solve the issue but that didn't help.

Another problem appeared after reinstall though. I can't sign out from acrobat. It just signs me in automatically. And the sign in process introduces more lag.

Anyway I uninstalled it and switched to Edge browser to read pdfs, as all I need right now is read and highlight text and Edge loads everything instantly.

Hi there

We are sorru to hear that. Please try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Windows or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.

If it still doesn't work, please remove the app;lication using the Acrobat cleaner tool -https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html  , reboot the computer once and reinstall the application using the link - https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
