Trouble installing Acrobat Reader

I downloaded and tried to install Acrobat Reader on my computer and during the install process I get this message Found a higher version of Adobe Acrobat Reader in the installation location. Will not install. I have a Mac Computer with OS version 10.12.6 can anyone help with this problem.

Reboot the machine.
