I have a Macbook Pro. This may be an Apple thing as most of my experience is Windows. I am trying to complete and IRS form (long story) and apparently my version of Reader is not the most recent and it directs me to Adobe. So I go to downloads and get Reader. But then it halts the installation because it finds a more recent version present. Makes no sense.

Hi Andrewclifton,
The error message that you get is generally appears when there are old traces of Adobe Acrobat Reader which has to be removed completely before installing the latest version.
You must uninstall the Adobe Reader through Go>Applications>Adobe Reader>Uninstall or Go>Utilities>Adobe Installers>Uninstall Adobe Reader.
Now try installing the latest version of Adobe Reader through- Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions
If it still doesn't work with the solution provided above, then you may reset the preferences of Acrobat- How to reset Preference settings in Acrobat. and then try installing it.
Let us know if none of the solution works.
Regards,
Akanchha
