I am unable to open any pdf file--Our previous computer (Mac) was used by two persons and I could not open pdf files on my side but they opened on the other person's side. I have a new Mac and am still unable to open any pdf file. I have deleted Adobe Reader DC and reinstalled it with no luck.

I cannot open any pdf file—when I try the pdf icon just flickers but does not open. The same thing happens when I click on Acrobat—it just flickers but doesn’t appear to open but I still need to quit Acrobat.
This computer is running MaOS Sierra 10.12.5—brand new. The pdf files that I have on a thumb drive can be opened on a different Mac. We have another Mac which two of use. The files can’t be opened on my side (although I was able to open them in the past) but can be opened on the other side.. The Adobe Acrobat Reader on this computer was downloaded today—version 2107.009.20044
