First when I started opening my PDFs this dialogue box asked me how I wanted to read my PDF's and I selected an option to not see the box anymore. Now whenever open my PDF's there's a blinking line before each first word on a page as if it's allowing me to edit and it's making it much more challenging to navigate the PDF. I don't know why the setting changed in the first place, but I just want it to go back to normal. How do I put it back to normal, solely reading, settings?

Well, Reader can't edit PDF files, so that's not what it is. And I'm not sure what setting it is but what you can try is go to Edit - Preferences - General and tick the "Reset All Warnings" button. Then it will probably ask you the same question the next time you open a file, and this time you could say "No" to it.
