Very poor experience with reader

I installed reader about an hour ago and have already uninstalled it. I needed it to open a document I need for a business and could not. There was no help available and the chat feature was useless. Is opening and  reading documents not available in the free version?

Reader has a Help menu. Didn't it work? Or didn't the entries help.

Reader has no chat feature! Are you sure it was Acrobat Reader.

If you mean Chat on the Adobe site, sure, it's only for paying customers.
