Viewing Edited PDFs in Free Version of Adobe Acrobat

Is there a way to ensure that if any edits are made to a PDF, that an end client using the free version of Adobe Acrobat sees all edits?

My concern with Adobe Acrobat is that in the past, we got burned when:

  1. we edited a PDF inserting a text box over any sensitive information that we did not want included (i.e. account numbers)
  2. the client only had access to free Adobe Acrobat Reader and was not able to see any edits that we did. (i.e The client version contained the PDF in its original format including account numbers.)

You really MUST NOT hide sensitive information this way. Many people have made this mistake with terrible consequences. Use the redaction tool in Acrobat Pro, nothing else is safe, and covering it up is no protection at all.
