Hi Dharris,

Thank you for reaching out, As described above, you are experiencing issues while panning and zooming using the hand tool as it gives a blue background, correct?

We tried to reproduce the issue at our end and its working fine,  What is the version of the application installed on your computer? to check the version of the application please use the help article  - https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/identify-product-version.html

Please check for any missing updates and try to update the application to the latest version.  Go to Help  > Check for Updates. You may also refer to the help article - DC Release Notes — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products

What is the workflow/steps you are doing to pan and zoom? Could you please share the screen recording of the same

Regards

Amal

By, the way you cannot pinch zoom with a table, it doesn't work smoothly.

here is a link to a screen recording of the issue:

Thanks for sharing the screen recording. Is this a behaviour with a particular PDF file or with all the PDF files you try to Pan or Zoom. Could you please share the sample file with us for testing. Please upload the sample PDF on document cloud - https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/home/ and share the link with us.

Also, is it a touch screen laptop /computer that you are facing issue with ? and what is the make and model of the computer?

I uploaded two files for your use, we are using microsoft surface pro to do our work. Generally we plot from Autcad to PDF, inDesign to PDF, photoshop to PDF or combine JPG to PDF. in every case the pan zoom does not work very well. We've noticed the same problem at presentation from other clients. No one can keep a smooth pan zoom tool going in Adobe Acrobat PRO.

I'm amazed that Adobe CANNOT design a tool as simple as Adobe Acrobat to utilize the pinch zoom and pressure sensitive tablet technology.

Hi there,

Apologies for the delay in response. As stated in your earlier post that you are using the version 19.12.20040 and facing issues with zooming the PDF.

A new release for Adobe Acrobat /Reader DC is available now, version 19.21.20056. Please update the application to the new version. Go to Help > Check for Updates. For detailed information about the new version you may please use the link here: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html

Let us know if you still face the same issue

No change, still experiancing the same issue.  This is not just me, a lot of other people in my industry are ftrustreated with the same issue.

1. the blue selection box takes over when trying to pan. This forces you to only use the slide bars rather than the pan tool.

2. pinch zoom does not work very smooth. It is not even close to the same experiance when paning and zooming in photoshop for example.

3. Pen works but is very clunky not smooth and not very good pressure sensitivity.

Ther is no change at all with the new version.

Dave

Hi Dave,

We are sorry to hear that the issue still persist.

Please try the following preference settings and see if that makes any difference.

Go to Edit > Preferences > General > Select, Touch Mode to Auto Detect and Scale for Screen Resolution to No Scaling.

Would you mind sharing the screen recording of the issue you are facing, as the previous recording is no longer available on dropbox.

Regards

Amal

I've been having the same issue for well over a year and our IT dept cannot understand despite all the updates and other colleagues suffering or not suffering the same issues (blue box selected when panning etc). Also, options for comment tools "Make current options default" never works - a complete gong show. Adobe once was a decent product but now Adobe pdf editor is so inferior to Bluebeam and makes a mark-up of documents session much longer and painfully tedious than doing the corrections myself on the originals.

open adobe - menu: Edit / Preferences / Basic Tools / General:... then unclick all the Hand Tool features you don't want (eg make hand tool selct / read...) then scroll to bottom and press OK. That last part is critical.

Thanks, this did fix the problem after 6 years of frustration!!!  ADOBE ACROBAT CD is still the very worst program that ADOBE designs and supports. Annotations, redlines, highlights should all use the pressure sensitive pen and touch screen technology similar to photo shop and other tools you have produced.  Still planning on moving away from ADOBE ACROBAT DC becuase of the lack of annotation tools and the fact that DC crashes all the time on larger PDF files.  It is very slow to load compared to BLUE BEAM and other PDF reader / annotation programs.  You still need to fix this very poorly designed program and revamp the entire thing so that it is faster, and usable for large files and pen annotations.

Thanks

Dave
