Hello,
I had a free version of Adobe Acrobat XI, which was fine for
my needs.
This week, it was upgraded to DC (I did not want this! it
looks like it may be useful if you are working in the cloud but I always work
offline!) which is slow in comparison to XI but it has removed XI from my
system.
I have tried to install XI again from the Adobe Web site but
it is asking for a serial number (I have never needed one of these before, and
have never been supplied with sign in details).
How do I get back to the version I want without all this
fuss?
Thanks,
Andrew Briggs

Adobe Acrobat XI is not free. Install Adobe Reader XI.

I assume you downloaded the installer for Adobe Acrobat and not the free Reader. You can download the Reader installer from here: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions
