if you're a committed unix user why are you criticizing a company that makes nothing compatible with your computer?
ie, it's not adobe's fault you can't shoehorn its software into your unix vm.

Because Adobe, through their aggressive business practices, have a real stranglehold over the creative industries. Hardly anyone would use Adobe's sub-par products if they didn't HAVE to. Any more smarmy stupid questions?

Hi Jason-- no worries, I hate Adobe, too. Really overpriced for the two apps I need. There's literally nothing else that costs this much. Hoping some good upstart company will come up with something equivalent... til then, I guess I'm just stuck paying their exhorbitant costs and complaining about how much I hate them on the internet.

I can only agree, Adobe causes me visceral feelings. Yes, its free. Yes you can just avoid it and there are good alternatives for all OS's. The problem is Adobe as a company uses underhanded, corrupt tactics to force everybody into its software and make people pay for stuff that should be free. For example. I have a dual booting Windows-Archinux computer, and I almost never use Acrobat. Yet I have it installed on my windows side just for digitally signing documents. Why??? because it's the only software my goverment accepts for taxes and other legal stuff. Why are ther no open surce alternatives ???? Why governments and lawyers dont use them if they exist? And why oh Why, Acrobat is always nagging me to make it the default pdf viewer??? I spent 30 minutes trying to find out how to disable these unwelcome notifications. Unfortunately I cant just obliterate it from my system and its too bad.
