Hi all,

Recently started using adobe acrobat on my iPad Pro, and generally work off my OneDrive, can anyone shed some light on the following;

1. Can I make adobe the default app to open pdf files. I'm not sure what the default pdf app is on the iPad but I have to open files in that first then choose to open in another app.

2. When I have the file open in adobe and exit, changes made to the document isn't saved to the source file on OneDrive. To access the updated file I have to open the adobe app go to home and it's there in the list, sometimes with a number appended at the end. I assume it's saved on the adobe cloud?

Hi @Peter269757564hnv @VishnuD @marcus38583285785h,

I went through the entire thread. Thanks for having this discussion in length.

For the first point, iOS does not allow setting up default apps for areas where they have their own native apps.

So, the only option we have there is to use the Share feature and click on "Open in Acrobat" to redirect the file to Acrobat Reader Mobile.

For Second point, we are aware of this issue. The team released a few fixes on the previous versions, but cloud storage like OneDrive and Dropbox change their terms of use from time-to-time and the permissions for overwriting the files get reset, due to which Acrobat Reader Mobile creates an internal copy of the file to save your changes and edits.

That being said, let me check back with the team and get back to you guys if there is a back.

Thanks,
Souvik

Hello, @VishnuD

1. Setting Adobe Acrobat as Default PDF App
iOS doesn’t allow setting a default PDF app. Use “Open In” to open PDFs in Adobe Acrobat:

Open the PDF.
Tap the Share icon.
Select “Open in Adobe Acrobat.”
2. Saving Changes to OneDrive
Changes in Adobe Acrobat might not sync automatically to OneDrive. To ensure they do:

Open the PDF from OneDrive in Adobe Acrobat.
Make your changes.
Save back to OneDrive via the Share icon.
This should help keep your files updated.

Let me know if you need more assistance!

Best regards

Marcus dixon

Hi Marcus thanks for responding.

Regardig point 2, I wasnt able to save back to onedrive using the share icon, but was able to by accessing the ellipses then using send copy. But this means I'll have to continually delete the old doc as the copy is saved with a number appended at the end since the original file has the same name and is in the same folder. File isnt realy updated but the new file saved has the updated info. This will be tedious to manage.... there must be a better way!!

I have a similar problem as 2. above. I'm interchangably using ipad pro and my android phone to annotate the PDF in OneDrive. On my phone the document is annotated until page 34 and updated/saved on the 15th of July. But when I try to open the document on my ipad the annotations stop at page 22, and the document was updated on the 13th of July.

In order to be able to read the document on my ipad with the newest annotations, I attempted to export the document from my android phone and make a second copy of the file on onedrive. Brut frustratingly, when I tried to open on my ipad, the copy of the file that I have exported from my android phone, the annotations between page 23 and 34 were still missing! I can still open the pdf on my phone, annotated to page 34, but it seems to me that my recent changes haven't been syncrhonised to OneDrive even as a conflicting change. They only seem to be saved locally on my android phone and in fact impossible to export to OneDrive!

Hi Souvik

Unfortunately this problem is not limited to just OneDrive and Dropbox. It was temporarily solved by using "Adobe cloud storage". But today I encountered the exact same problem with this solution.

I'm making annotations to the document on my phone. Which is seemingly saved "just now", but only locally! The document appears among recent files on my phone, but not when I try to open from the document cloud on my ipad. Even when I export the file from my phone and save it as a separate file on "adobe clode storage" the most recent annotations are missing.
