Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described  you are unable to print the PDF file and getting the error 'Printing the protected file is currently unsupported'

Is this a issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check .

Also, please check the document restriction summary and see if  printing is allowed or not? Open the PDF in Acrobat Reader DC (Freeware application) Go to File > Properties > Under Security Tab , check the document restriction summary.

If the PDF is protected by the password for printing please get in touch with the author/creator of the PDF file  to remove the password and share the document with you for printing.

Regards

Amal

Good morning I just started having same issue with any docs on my Ipad Air 2.  I did just upgrade to IOS 14.4.2 but following this link I see it asked to try other docs.  I have been able to print for years but all of the sudden it does not matter what I open and try to print I get the following pop up on bottom of the doc.

"printing protected file is currently unsupported"

Any help would be appreciated as I can't figure out how to change any settings in the app.

Thanks in advance,

B

It is not an issue with the document, since I was able to open and print it from a different program. I did not have this problem before the last update.

Hello it is an issue with all PDFs. Since it just started happening it doesn't seem to be an issue with security settings

Hi All,

Hope you are doing well.

We don't have that feature for mobile applications at present. We cannot print password-protected pdf in Android/iOS devices.  Thank you for highlighting this to us. It's in a future enhancement pipeline. You will get an official announcement as well as a notification when this will roll out.

You can use the following link to share your feedback/raise a new feature request to the product team directly: https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

Regards,

Ria

Ros, I don't understand why you say you don't have this feature for IOS when it has worked for years AND.JUST recently stopped working. I tried printing docs from years ago which  I was previously had no problem and they are now failing.

For more information refer to: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobat/android/en/workingwithpdf.html#print-pdfs

You can however use Acrobat on PC or Mac to print password protected file. You need to check the document's properties using the desktop application (it cannot be checked using the mobile app).

  • Document>Right Click>Document Properties> Security>Printing If its "Allowed" then there should be any problem and if printing isn't "Allowed" then you need to change the document's security settings to be able to print it.

That is only possible if you own this document or the document was created by you, else you need to contact the creator of the pdf to allow changes to the pdf.

How to change the security settings-

  1. In Adobe Acrobat, choose File > Properties.
  2. Switch to the Security tab.
  3. Besides the Security Method list, click the Change Settings button.
  4. Type the Permissions password in the Enter password box and click OK.
  5. In the Password Security - Settings dialog that appears, you can change or switch off the security settings for the document.
  • Modify the security settings in the Password Security - Settings dialog:
  • To remove all security from the document, disable the Restrict editing and printing of the document. A password will be required in order to change these permission settings. option.
  • To allow copying of text, images, ... select Enable copying of text, images, and other content; to prevent copying, clear the checkbox.
  • To enable document assembly features, from the Changes Allowed list, select Inserting, deleting, and rotating pages; to disable them, select None.

Thank you for your time and cooperation. Let us know if there is any further assistance is required.

Regards,

Ria
