I was writing with an apple pen on a PDF file on my IPAD. Somehow it deleted a portion of my writing. When I tried to undo the delete, it deleted even more of my writing from previous pages. I have tried to undo the delete, but it is not an option anymore. Is there a way to recover what was deleted?

Hello ashleyb,

Thank you for reporting the lost comments issue to us. We just released a new version (19.01.01) to the App Store and have fixed a number of issues that could be causing lost comments. Please install it and let us know if your problems have been resolved.

However, if not, in order to help us further investigate, it would be amazing if you could answer any or all of the following questions:

  1. How long had you been commenting before you experienced data loss (in hours)?
  2. How did you leave the Acrobat App or PDF when you experienced data loss (switching to another app, putting phone to sleep, etc.)?
  3. Is the PDF you were commenting a cloud file (Google Drive, Document Cloud, Dropbox)? If so, which cloud service?
  4. Did the app crash or display an error message?

Thank you again,

Anna

This happened to me. What's the answer?

Specifically, I received an emailed PDF, which I opened in Acrobat on an iPad2.

Selected "Comment" and marked the PDF with Apple Pencil.

The battery died and when it recharged a couple minutes later, the PDF opened in Acrobat -- but 100% of my mark-up was gone.

Tried reopeniing a couple different ways. No luck. An hour's work lost.

Is this a thing?

Hi @Dan22127256qtu3

Sorry for the delayed response. If you still facing the issue could you please confirm a few details to understand the issue better?

1. Application version?

2. Is it happening with a particular PDF or with all PDFs?

3. If possible could you share the PDF so we can test it.

Make sure that the application is up to date.

looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks,

Harsh
